First PRS 22 Match

Had a great time at my first PRS 22 match at TX Precision Matches in Navasota! Came in 3rd in Production Class after to figured out how to navigate the obstacles. Hit 35 of the last 40 targets!!
If you’re looking to get into “competitive” shooting with a relatively low cost of entry (under $1625 gun/scope) for production class check out PRS 22! The match cost was $53 and included lunch. Including checking my zero I only used about $30 in ammo. Every experienced shooter I spoke to was extremely helpful and offered good advice at every turn. I can’t sing their praises enough.
I honestly haven’t had this much fun with a day of shooting since I used to do 3D archery. Do yourself a favor, get you a plinker and a good dialing scope and start shooting. You won’t be disappointed!

Looks like a fun match. 22 competition is so much more approachable. Cheap ammo, less expensive gear, usually 1-day matches.

Yep. Fast but fun! We had about 50 shooters. Checked zero at 7:00. Started shooting at 8:00. Done and headed home by 1:30.

I agree with Justin! I have shot 2 matches and really enjoyed the challenge. All the other shooters were very helpful and encouraging to us rookies. This is definately a way to build your trigger and scope skills. But, be warned that much of the challenge is getting into and out of the shooting positions. I bought a rifle from one of the other shooters who had moved up to a more expensive chassis and custom barrel rig. This is a deep rabbit hole.

There is a new course of fire published each month and every club shoots the same COF and adds some stages of their own. You can compete against the local shooters and every other group as well. There is lots of information at NRL22.com And, there is endless Youtube content to watch. Just go try it!

I’d be interested in NRL22 as well but there are no matches held South of Dallas. I can’t justify a 4+ hour drive. I drive 2 hours for the PRS22 match nearest to me. IDK why there’s no NRL or PRS matches near Austin but there just aren’t any.
