Honestly, with all that is coming out, and @Backfire you’re certainly a part of this conversation, we are entering a Golden Age for Rifles. These are things I have seen, I am am sure it is a partial list:
Suppressor BOOM - we have 31 flavors of suppressors and the tech is getting amazing. Watching a 300PRC recoil like a 243 was mind blowing.
Custom Actions with Prefit Barrels - I can build my own custom rifle without a gunsmith.
Triggers under 1lbs pulls - All us older guys remember how much trigger control was needed on those first rifles we shot that had, I’m guessing here, probably 6-8 lbs pulls.
High BC bullets - maybe more than anything else, these have catapulted change everywhere. Just watched a short video from Proof on their PXT barrels explaining why the 80K PSI bullets demand a progressive twist and how that is delivering barrel life and accuracy. Amazing.
31 Flavors of stocks - So many options out there, no one has a reason to shoot a rifle that doesn’t fit perfectly. I am really looking forward to seeing what the Backlight feels like. Already the Backstop has changed the game for big calibers for small people. My little wife can shoot my 7PRC as is and that’s just with a good suppressor and a Backstop.
US Gov upholding 2A - its not where it needs to be but its better than its been any other time in my 5 + decades.
Barrels, Barrels, Barrels - We have stainless steel barrels, carbon fiber wrapped barrels and now he have ceramic lined barrels being developed. New boring tech from McGowen and Proof. 1 MOA just isn’t impressive anymore. I have seen shooters show same hole groups on 5 shots with larger caliber rifles. Awesome.
What am I missing and has there ever been a time like this?
