My youngest son is really taking to the rifle. Our range has a youth marksmanship program and he just got his first 22 rifle. He started on iron sights, but now it is time to move him to shooting with an optic and I’d appreciate suggestions on good 22 rimfire scopes.
Leupold makes a great 2-7x40. Also the Athlon Jim recommends would be good with more magnification. I put a Vortex Diamondback Tactical 4-16 so I could practice dialing

Bushnell MPED 5-30, Arken SH-4J or EP5, or Athlon Midas 5-25 are all popular entry-level scopes on the competetive circuit for 22lr.
I have the Leupold 2-7x40 on my Ruger 10-22 and have not complaints. Good scope for price and great for the ranges I am using it for.
I like the vortex diamond back 4-16x44 30mm
But on my carbon fiber ultra lightweight Ruger 10/22 for fast target acquisition and keeping the weight down I’m running a vortex strike eagle 1-8x24
Thanks everyone. Appreciate the input.
