Grand Daughter learning to shoot!

Looking for advise from Jim, since he has sons about the same age as my grand daughter. She is 13, tall and mature for her age, 5’5" 115 pounds. I am wanting to get her a 6.5 CM. I am thinking maybe the new Fierce Carbon Mini Rogue w/ 20" barrel and 6.1 pounds. We hunt in Texas and she could shoot most anything here with that rifle. Or I like Chassis rifles and I know you and your boys love the Sig Cross in 6.5CM.

What are your thoughts. If later she needs something bigger I have the 7prc, 6.5prc, and .308.

Texas here as well.

I’m 5’6ā€ and I am a huge fan of chassis now (as well as the modular Savage Accufit). If you have a chassis, I’d measure her length of pull on that since you can set her on it and adjust, then look to see if the Rogue mini and/or the Cross fit.

Mine is 12 7/8ā€ and I checked on the cross, it will work for me.

Hey Robert!

Both the cross and the Fierce Rogue are great guns. I should point out that I hear a lot of QC issues with Fierce. Usually they are great but sometimes they ship out a lemon. Not saying not to pick it, but just be aware of that. But I like Fierce.

The cross would be an excellent fit as well.

I say go with the cross and spend the rest of the budget on a suppressor. The quieter guns do more to reduce flinch than recoil itself in my experience.

After my fiasco with the Bergara MGLite, John Mogle assured me I would have no issues with the Mountain Reaper. So far I have not been disappointed and would definitely hold him to it.

I also had trouble with the MG Lite.
