Hawk Camera or spotting scope

Hey guys
Hawk Camera for 1000 yards
Or good spotting scope better

Most times I’m alone that is why I think what could be better

I’d go with a spotting scope and an ollin adapter to record what you see. I think you’ll be happier because it will last you a lifetime unlike the Hawke camera. Also, it’ll give you a more clear view when looking to spot your impact.

We have two great spotters on BackfireShop that are priced really well. An Athlon for $649 but you’ll get 10% off with code plus.

A Burris that has top shelf glass. It’s $1649 but we can actually get you 20% off on that one if you email us at help@backfireshop.com.

I was looking for a spotting scope for my first rifle hunt out west and started looking at the Anthlon you offer, but wasn’t sure if I needed more than 45 zoom. I really didn’t think I did until I realized that a lot of other spotting scopes go out to 60.

To the OP’s question…would you be able to spot the impact at 1000 yards with the 15-45 Anthon? I like the price of it, but don’t want to wish I had purchased something with more magnification.

Maybe the quality of my glass isn’t the best, I have an Athlon Argos 20-60x85 and I can spot impact at 1000 yards with this, but its a bit tough. The glass Jim has is better than the Argos, but I got the Argos seriously marked down (at that time).

I have the Hawk and with a nice spotting scope I really like it. I just take it to the range with my iPad and you can set it up so that it shows each individual shot. I usually go to the range by myself and it works wonderfully for me. The range here goes out to 600 yards and I have no problem using the Hawk. One caveat though is that I started out with a 20 year old spotting scope of medium quality glass and it could be difficult to see some shots, but once I upgraded to a modern spotting scope with very nice glass it has worked great.

15-45 is perfect for me because 20x on the low end is sometimes cumbersome to quickly get an animal in view. 45 is great for most deer/elk rack judging. My main spotter is a 20-60x right now and I kinda wish I had less power for hunting, though it can be handy on the range.

But if you’re judging antelope or sheep or something at a long distance and want to score down to the inch, a 60 could be handy. Similar with looking at a target when shooting a mile.

Yes, I got the Hawk and a Leupold SX4 PRO GUIDE scope and really like it.

This is from a friend shooting at 300 yards.
