I’m looking for scope recommendations that are in the budget/value space. I’m shooting a suppressed 6.5 PRC largely for whitetail up to 200 yards and occasional elk up to 500 yards. Lower weight is important to my setup. I’m leaning towards a 4-16x44 but there is a sea of optics in this space.
Athlon, Arken, Discovery, lower models of Leupold and other big brands. Any particular brand and model you’d recommend I consider?
Open to recos as I’m newer to longer shooting. I’m used to Wisconsin under 150 yards with a 3x9 cheap scope. I feel like I’d want something simple, ability to range an animal, dial the distance and roll (assuming wind isn’t a big variable).
What are you considering budget? Less then $300-ish, $500-ish, $750-ish or $1000-ish as if you ask different people all those are budget scopes to there budget. Also weight is that a concern? As you can gain optical quality at a cheaper rate if you don’t mind the weight that goes with it. But if you’re thinking less $400 range- I’ve seen several really good reviews from what I would consider neutral YouTubers on the new gen 2 Athlon Midas. And there’s always Vortex Strike eagle, which is pretty good for the dollar. But when you finally choose one go to this website put in the model and it will find the cheapest price for you on the web.
Good question, I’m willing to spend up to $1k but curious if I can find anything reasonable closer to $300-500 vs $800-$1k. Thanks I’ve been looking at the Arken EPL 4-4x16 or maybe some sort of Athlon but would love some other thoughts or confirmations. Thanks
In the 4 - 16 x 44 you can; beat a Vortex Diamondback Tactical 4 - 16 x 44. Adjustable turrets, both elevation and windage, Lifetime warranty, great glass and weight wise it’s only 23 ounces, much lighter than most of the competition and a more than reasonable price, especially if you are military, LEO or first responder. 40% discount if you order from the factory.
