I purchased a Fierce Carbon Rival XP in 7 PRC a few months ago and like it so much, I traded my Browning X-bolt SR Speed .308 in on a Fierce Carbon Rogue .308. My 7 PRC really likes the Federal Premium 155 grain Terminal Ascent ammo. As I am trying different ammo for my new .308, I have found that so far, it likes Hornady 150 grain CX the best. I am getting sub 3/4" groups with it, but I do not know anything about this particular load. I have always had good performance in the past with Nosler Partition bullets and with Nosler Accubond bullets, but have never heard much about this Hornady CX bullet. Is this a good bullet for deer sized animals? Please advise.
Thanks, Mark
Yep, it’s a good bullet. I haven’t killed anything with one yet but it’s an all copper so you’ll get full penetration and minimal meat loss. Just make sure to keep velocities north of 2,000fps with that bullet because it struggles to expand at slower velocities which can happen at distance with a 308.
Jim,
Thanks for your quick response. I plan on using this gun as my 300 yards and shorter weapon, while I use my 7 PRC for my long range gun.
Thanks again!
