Been searching for 30mm scope rings for a Begara B-14 and pretty much the only ones I’ve found are from Talley. Anyone uses them. Are they any good? Are there other manufacturers i should be looking at?
Work great for me, no complaints
Same here. Good stuff!
Thanks. really didn’t want to add a pic rail and rings
DNZ is another good brand
I use Vortex Premier Rings
but would then need to add a rail which I would prefer not to have.
Vortex has rings for direct mount to the receiver instead of a Picatinny rail. They will be available in all different heights. Just be sure to select they ones that match your tap pattern and screw thread for your rifle. Many are for Remington 700 pattern, just depends on your rifle.
The other thing to consider is at what distance you will be shooting. If you are reaching out 300 yards plus you may do bettter with a 20 or 40 moa rail which will allow your scope more elevation at extended ranges.
Was just on their website and they don’t have any direct mount rings
I like Talley.
I stand corrected. I always use cantilever mounts, I had seen mounts that were not cantilever but didn’t pay attention to them, and didn’t realize they were for a rail. Apologies!
Andrew, I would very much recommend Talley lightweight rings. I have these rings on two Sauer 100 rifles and two Rem 700 rifles. I understand that the Bergara B-14 action geometry is the same as Remington 700. Talley list lightweight rings for the Bergara B-14 in about 11 different heights. Take the time to select rings that will mount the scope as low as you can get it taking account of objective bell size and any caps you may wish to fit. I gently (they are alloy) lap the base ring to remove any high points, but I don’t lap the caps.
I have 2 sets from Athlon Precision 30mm High listed on ebay. I bought and then decided to upgrade to a 34 mm scope. Irritating. OH WELL, but anyway, they are sweet.
