I borescoped my brand new rifle…

I have not fired my new rifle and thought running a bore scope through it would be insightful… and boy was it. (Also the first time using a borescope)

Wouldn’t mind getting y’all’s thoughts on a few things :

  1. is the orange/brown copper fouling?
  2. is that the dreaded “carbon ring” in the chamber. Are those burs in the chamber also?
  3. is it normal for a brand new rifle to be delivered uncleaned like this? I suppose it might make sense if the tested the rifle before shipping.
  4. I was half way down the barrel with the borescope when I had a thought… might the camera/ rod it’s attached cause damage to the rifling while sliding it through? It’s a stainless steel barrel so it would surprise me but I read a lot of posts about people doing damage to their barrels by cleaning etc…

Every rifle looks horrifying the first time you bore scope one. Sometimes I see a barrel look terrible in a borescope but it shoots great.

The ring is just the end of the chamber, not a carbon ring.

What bore scope do you have?

I got this one based off a random YouTube video. Couldn’t tell you if it’s “a good one” or not. But it certainly appears to get the job done.
