I signed up for December bison harvest

Selected the bull hunt. Now I have to figure out what gun to use. I have a replica Springfield 1873 trapdoor in 45-70. Kind of historical. I have some other 45-70’s. Or a custom barrel mauser action 35 Whelen that has a stock on it my father carved. I have a 375 H&H Rem 700 that I have had for years and never used. Might be overkill, but is a buffalo gun. I know I know. Or a muzzle loader, either flint or cap - that would be amazing but kind of scary actually.
I assume the range is not all that far? But I want to make the first shot clean and humane. I am leaning to the 35.

PS. my wife is the best. I mentioned it and she said yes instantly and will come along.
Add a photo of the 35 - beautiful rifle with a bushnell sportview scope. Might have to change that. And I need a custom backstop recoil pad!

That’s not a bad deal. I know a more local place but its 1k+ more

I’m interested in what you finally used on the bison hunt?
I signed my grandson up for the hunt, we had a good time and now have meat in the freezer.

That is a story. Find the December Bison Hunt and read my report close to the bottom of thread. Things did not go as planned.
