Interesting evening with a gun builder

Got invited to dinner by a couple that recently started attending our church. Come to find out he has been building rifles for friends, family and friends of family for 30 years. He had four completed customer rifles that he let me handle. Interestingly enough, most were wildcats and chamberings that I have never heard over 7MAX, 33X, 7 SAUM, etc. Anyhow, most of what he builds are .25 MOA or less with several shooting groups starting with a .1. He is phasing out as he is 71, but told me he only uses Brux (I believe I heard it right) or Proof barrels, he only uses Lone Peak actions, McMillan Stocks and Hawkins bottem metal. He does not trust factory chambering and sends all his barrels to a smith in North Dakota. He admitted he likes hunting with a traditional stocked rifle, but the ones he puts in a chassis are by far more accurate. Informative evening, got me thinking. Also, he shared that in 30 years of shooting, 20 as a benchrest shooter, nothing is more accurate than a long (180 gr) 7MM bullet. He offered to build me one before he sells his equipment, I am tempted.
