Is arca just awful or is there a specific use case where it shines?

Was listening to the recent podcast about most overrated rifle features, and the awfulness of arca was brought up. First time I’ve heard that take but then I thought about it and couldn’t agree more. Why is arca revered so much? Picatinny seems better.

Arca is better than a pic rail if you’re going to be resting your rifle on a bag or something else as its wide and flat. Its also nice for being able to slide things like a bipod around. I don’t know why people would think its overrated or bad, it just works for the intended use cases better than other rail systems.

My experience is using it for bipod attachment at the range and I find that anything that recoils more than a 6.5 creedMoor will eventually kick the bipod off if it’s attached with arca. I guess if you’re only taking a couple shots, for example, when hunting, then it wouldn’t matter, but when I’m dinking around at the range it can be annoying having to check my suppressor walk and my bipod walk as well. I guess I’ll have to throw a periodic bipod check into the shooting algorithm.
