Jim Suggestion- Reloading for Beginners

Jim I first want to say that what you are doing is awesome for the newbie’s to reloading.
I being one of these I have a suggestion for your video series.
When you are showing the techniques and the procedures to reloading, you are assuming that everyone has a background or some knowledge of the tools being used.
I am from Ohio and I have just started reloading 444 Marlin and 450 BM all straight walled cartridges.
Straight walled cartridges don’t have all the precision checks that a shoulder cartridge needs.
I want to start reloading 300 PRC as I have a rifle on order now and like a kid on Christmas I just can’t wait for it to arrive.
With that said I feel a video showing all the components needed to reload rifle ammo would be helpful.
You do a good job showing what is needed as the video series progresses but I find myself rewinding constantly trying to hear what you are using and figuring out how it is setup.
Now that you have your own site and don’t have to follow the restrictions of Youtube.

I would like to add that the “bullet” part of the reloading guide did not work, for me at least. And the download for the reload guide link did not work, for me at least. Other Than that I would have to agree with the original post and got lost on some of the terms used.

Really enjoying the content, just listening to the podcasts now and enjoy those as well, glad you decided to branch out of YouTube where you can be yourself and not a self censored version.

I think there are plenty of places on the internet to get good introductory information. Maybe a link is sufficient.

I am really committed to making the reloading course the easiest way to start reloading, so I’d love to know specifically WHAT terms and processes could use additional explanation. I’d be happy to create additional videos to explain anything, but I’d need to know any specifics of what isn’t clear.

I am adding three new videos to the reloading basics course today that may help: (1) The missing bullet seating video, (2) A video with a general overview of the gear and what each tool does, (3) A video on how to pull a bullet if you made a mistake and need to remove it. Also, I fixed the broken link to the reloading steps cheat sheet.

I want this course to be GREAT, so PLEASE tell me if there’s any term I use that isn’t clear. I’ll keep making updates over time to improve it.

Okay… my background on reloading I i was completely self taught by a stupid rcbs manual… I learned a lot and have taken many a deer with my loads… I bought in to the 280 ai craze back in 2011 had a custom rifle built on an 98 mauser action with a really cool ww2 history… but thats not the point…

In 2012 in unit 77 in colorado I went to load the gun… When I pushed the bolt forward I felt the bullet push back into the case… So I ejected that round put it in my box of shell chambered the next and moved on… with that same box of shells not one other has failed to seat properly …

So the question is or the suggestion rather is make a video or splice in a section on how to seat the bullet… I know you did a video on it …but I mean a seating for dummies because… I know what I did wrong… I didn’t cam the stupid thing over to crimp the bullet… or I was measuring length and didn’t go back and crimp that bullet… I haven’t been that boneheaded since… but this is a issue that I had when I started…

Love your course it was a great refresher and I needed it … Thanks for this…well worth the money

Jim I am looking at getting a 6.5 PRC
But had heard of sticky chambers
Have you had any issues

Yes, several issues with the PRC line of cartridges. Can be tough to find a cartridge and chamber that fit perfect.

Thank you for getting back to me!

Jim
If you had to choose one that you and your wife and kids could share
Would you choose the 6.5CM or the 6.5PRC
Sorry for putting you on the spot.
:joy: lol
Thank you for your opinion.
