I recently sent in my Leupold rangefinder not knowing that it was outside of a 2 year warranty that I had assumed was a lifetime warranty. They are offering me a new one for about 50% retail discount. I’m not even sure I should buy one if it’s going to fail again in a few years. Are the newer ones holding up better?

Woah. That’s a pretty strong reason to not pick Leupold rangefinders. I also assumed it would be lifetime like most optics in this industry. Good to know.

That would be enough of a disincentive for me to purchase a different brand. Thanks for sharing your experience.
After reading on a different hunting forum it’s clear that this is what they do most of the time. A couple people did get lucky and got a new one to replace the defective one outside of the 2 years. Mine lasted about 5 years for what it’s worth. And the problem is the digital reading goes dim so you can’t really read the range. And that’s what most have for a problem in sending them in for warranty. My older cheap bushnell still works for what’s that’s worth
