Leupold alpine tripod questions

I have been looking for a light weight compact tripod for shooting while sitting deer hunting and still be able to stand and shoot while coyote hunting. So far I have only found the leupold alpine that fits both needs does anyone have any experience with this tripod or have any other suggestions. I am wanting to keep the tripod around 2 pounds and under $400.

I know you didn’t ask, but I thought I would mention that a 2 lbs tripod is going to have a hard time with anything that has 10+lbs of recoil. I have a 4lbs tripod I am selling and my 7PRC gives it all it wants. Anything under, probably 3.5lbs is going to have a hard time staying on the ground.

I will be shooting a suppressed 6.5 prc most of the time for deer in its lowest configuration and a 22 arc for for coyotes not sure if the recoil will be to much or not

I agree with this, the best I’ve found for a really stable tripod that I can confidently shoot at distance is ~5lbs.

Don’t write off Sunwayfoto. I’m a big fan of their tripods. Do agree about getting a little chunkier tripod than you might otherwise want. To me, the bigger head is more valuable than the bigger legs.

Alright you guys sold me on the sunwayfoto tripods but what models do you recommend.

This one, imo, hits the sweet spot for weight and hight.

Pros are:

  • It is specifically designed for hunting
  • It is 4.1 lbs
  • Its stand at about 57"
  • The twist to tighten legs are better than clamps

Cons are:

  • The ball head doesn’t turret on a plane

I sent you a PM a while back about Tripods.
