On my short term (2-3 years) bucket list is to take go on an Axis deer hunt in Texas. There are just so many listed on the web I have no idea where to start. Shooting hogs as well would be a bonus. Any recommendations from personal experience would be appreciated.

Ooh, sounds fun. Axis are awesome animals, though I’m with you and have never shot one.
I’m sorry but I don’t have a recommendation for you. The place I’ve hunted before in Texas had them, but I wouldn’t recommend it as it was much more of a shoot than a hunt.
I know the place! Texas Trophy Whitetails. I have personally hunted with these guys on their Montana Whitetail operation and they are awesome. They also have a Texas outfitter business for whitetails and exotics. My best friend guided for them a couple of years back and they kill a lot of Axis bucks. This is free range hunting so it’s legit hunting not killing in a cage. They have hogs and other exotics as well. I have known the owner for a long time and while no free range hunt is guaranteed I can bet you will have an awesome experience. Glad to help. My best friend owns a small ranch not too far from there. I try and go down to hunt as much as I can. Planning to go maybe this fall or spring of 24 my self. We hunt on his ranch and another one of his friend ranch. We also will pay to hunt for different things once in a while. 2020 we went south to the Lincoln ranch for Javelin and hogs. It was an awesome trip. Took two Javelin and a Bobcat at the Lincoln ranch then went back and killed a giant hog at my buddies place. One of my Al time best hunts.
