Low Power Optic for Lever Gun

Hey Folks,

I have a Henry All Weather Picatinny in 45-70 and mounted a Trijicon red dot on it. It’s great 50-100 yds but I’d like to put a low power scope on it for better accuracy 100-200 yds. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any advice offered!

I don’t have a good answer for you and can’t wait to see what other people say. But I’m kind of going through the same search myself. Looking at large window red dot sights as a possibility. My major focus is large aperture for fast acquisition.

I put a Vortex Diamondback 1.75-5x32 on mine. For 200 yards that might be a bit of a stretch for any type of accuracy, but it’ll work for hitting steel.

I got an Athlon LPVO this week and I really like it. Reasonably priced, great reticle, and works reliably. I’ve already put about 200 rounds through the gun with it. https://shrsl.com/4321w

I currently have a Trijicon red dot which is great to 75yds and pretty good at 100yds (I can get on paper shooting off hand). It’s a fun rig but would love to take it on a pig hunt with some magnification.

I have one of these Leupold VX Freedom LPVOs, which are at once cheap, excellent quality glass, and perfect for hunting pigs: VX-Freedom 1.5-4x20 Pig-Plex Riflescope | Leupold

I went with a 1 x 8 that i can coax with for close range and still great to 200

Adding to the list. I have a Marlin 1895 SPL that I mounted a Burris 2-7x32 scout scope. I have mine mounted 11 inches forward from my eye. I love the fact that I still have great open field of view with it mounted so far up the rail. The magnification is low but I mostly use it at 2-4 power. Great scope for its purpose.
Jim, I’m also waiting for you to produce a recoil pad for us with 1895 lever actions………

Man that sounds like an awesome setup…

I was just looking at the Burris Scout on the Burris website. Thanks for the recommendation… I think that might be the one.

I originally tried an Aimpoint red dot which worked great but I could not get used to the fuzzy dot due to my eye astigmatism. My only wish for the Burris is that it was illuminated otherwise I think its a great scope. I hope that it works out for you,
