Borrowing my father-in-law’s M1 for a guys weekend of shooting & need to buy ammo for it.
I’ve heard a couple different opinions on this. Can I put any factory 30-06 through it?
As with any topic this can become subject having various opinions for many reasons. The CMP ( M1 Garand - Civilian Marksmanship Program ) recommends not using ammo loaded beyond 50,000 CUP and has a bullet weight more than 172-174gr. PPU has Full Metal Jacket .30-06 Springfield 150 Grain Centerfire Rifle Ammo which is advertised for the M1 Garand. Other factors include the condition of the rifle. I think the most important opinion is what does your Father-in-Law say he wants you to shoot in his rifle.
