Have Africa hunt in September Plains game including the Grey Wildebeest planning on caring my Mountain Reaper in 300 win Mag. Last hunt carried 150 grain stuff shot great but I think I need a little more Bullitt in Africa. Needs some help and no larger collection of gun nuts who know what what than right here and it has to group with my gun Help
What animals are you planning to hunt? 300 win mag is ideal for everything other than dangerous game.
Have you tested a few bullets to see what it shoots most accurately?
My 300 win mag shoots 180g Trophy Copper and 180g Sig Sauer Platinum Hunter 180g very well. Anything heavier not the greatest.
Most everything shot decent with the lighter stuff shooting the best took White Tail from 330 yards last fall with 165 grain sig marksman hunter. My Mountain reaper is sporting Backfire Recoil Pad and Burris Eliminator 6 the main reason for question I watched your video on your Africa hunt you mentioned making different Bullitt choices in future. I have quite a bit of Ammo on Order and plan on lot practice and testing. Trip of lifetime for me and want to be prepared
I have been to Africa several times. I used my .300 WSM with 165 gr TSX bullets each time and never failed. From big Kudu and Eland to crocodile, works well. I love TSX bullets. Not sure what 150 gr bullet you have but put the bullet where it should go and its a done deal. Even Eland with your 150 gr bullet I would not worry much with proper shot and normal 200 yds or less shot typically taken in Africa.
Can’t wait until my trip over in 2026! Good luck.
I love trophy copper 180g in my win mag that being said im gearing up to reload TSX 180g with H4831sc
