Mountain-Rifle Stock-Upgrade

What replacement stocks (or stock-manufacturers) could best accommodate the following wishlist for a “mountain” (i.e., light-weight & weather-proof) hunting-rifle replacement stock, for a Remington Model 700 (short) barreled action?

  1. Excellent cheek-weld* – without the added weight & complexity of “adjustability” features;

  2. Suitable grip-angle and forward-section, for accommodating multiple shooting positions and rests;

  3. Ready accommodation of glass-bedding of the action, and free-floating of the barrel;

  4. Compatible with long, detachable mag-clips (to facilitate longer-than-SAAMI C.O.L.);

  5. Swiss Arca rail (for rapid bipod/tripod attach/detach & repositioning).

  6. Premium recoil pad (to mitigate the increased recoil of low-weight rifles); and,

  7. Multiple (well-placed) flush-mount quick-disconnect sling-attachment features.

  • Legitimate guidance as to how to correctly specify or otherwise assess comb-feature dimensions for a good cheek-weld – without interference with bolt-extraction, boresighting, or otherwise forcing use of adjustable designs – would also be appreciated.

A few come to mind that fit most of all of your requirements:

AG Composites Alpine Hunter

MDT HNT 26 (incredible)

Grayboe Phoenix

GRS Hunter Light

Thanks, Jim.

Any guidance as to how to correctly specify or otherwise assess comb-feature dimensions for a good cheek-weld – without interference with bolt-extraction, boresighting, or otherwise forcing use of adjustable designs?
