I have been asked to serve on the security team at my church. Does anyone do this and would be willing to answer some concerns I have? Also, anyone with a understanding of what right the church has in their “interview” process, I definitely have questions.

I have not but I’ve noticed the few guys here lately that are clearly on alert and armed. Thought it was a bit odd to have them at first but in today’s day and age, glad to have them.
For me and mine I go heeled regardless.
USCCA has several resources that are very helpful. My church is in the process of deciding whether they want a “security” team. We have a small church (about 45 members) and we have a state trooper, a city policeman, myself, and some former military members that attend. We all have read the USCCA information and we adjusted where we sit and offer coverage. Feel free to reach out.

We started one a year ago when a member was being threatened by an estranged ex. 175 members, 10 carry, six of us rotate lobby duty. We changed the name to safety team as we learned having armed “security “ folks can cause the churches insurance liability to increase. We lock all exterior doors except the front one once service starts- we have ten ring cameras that are monitored by whoever is on duty that week. No open carry, we are a don’t ask don’t tell church on concealed carry. We have a basic SOP that Chat GPT helped with, but we have a meeting at the end of the month to tweak it. Lately we have been discussing less-lethal as no one wants to fire in the sanctuary. Rubber buckshot looks promising, but I would want to test it. I mentioned Bryna but little interest by the others. If you message me I can send you our SOP. No interviews by our elders, but requires you be a church member and have a GA weapons license which means you passed a state background check.
