Hello all, this is my first post here as a new member. Wondering if anyone has experience behind the new CVA LRH. I was ready to purchase a Ruger American Go Wild in 7PRC when i dicovered CVA was chambering the XT and LRH. The LRH is about $200 more expensive than the ruger and im curious if you get $200 more rifle for that money. I’d like to use it for deer hunting and to start messing around with some longer range taget shooting. Western hunts may also be possible in the next 3-5 years.
I don’t think I’d pick either of those guns honestly. The Ruger Go Wild in 7 prc is a jamming machine. Nearly every shot in mine jams when trying to feed.
The CVA is a good gun, but I’d go for the Ruger American Gen II in this price point. It’s an EXCEPTIONAL gun for the price point.
Also, consider a Tikka T3x for a couple hundred more.
The real advantage to the CVA is that it has a Bergara barrel. Other than that, it comes down to personal preference. I just spent the week shooting a Bergara HMR Carbon Wilderness and I can testify to their accuracy. 4 shots in a row on steel in 15+ mph wind at a moose size target at 1400 yards. I had a bunch of great help calling wind and the DOPE was solid. All that to say, I am a believer in Bergara barrels.
Jim, thank you for the welcome and the advise. Im starting to see some Gen IIs in stock around the SE Wisconsin area. Ill definitely go check one out.
Patrick, thanks for that advise as well. I have read many stories similar to yours, which is why i got it in my head to look at CVA in the first place.
