New information on suppressors

I haven’t read the ATF paperwork myself, but from I am hearing the answer is don’t do it. Leve the suppressor at home or take one that you do have a a form 4 for (no stamps in 2026).

Silencer Shop is still asking if I want to do the form 4, even though I have my suppressor. I may do it just to be covered in all states.

Not sure if it is a glitch cause the ATF changed after my FFL already has the suppressor. But it would be a cool option to do it after getting your purchase, an optional thing if untill all states change minus the communist ones.

I just found out that you can do form 4 private sales on your own with suppressors in state, through the NFA website. That can make things easier to upgrade or a bad choice fixable (see below)

you can now complete a private Form 4 transfer online. As of early 2026, the ATF eForms portal officially supports individual-to-individual (private) Form 4 transfers online. Previously, eForm 4 was strictly reserved for transactions initiated by an FFL dealer. [1]

Additionally, major legal changes enacted in January 2026 eliminated the $200 tax stamp for suppressors, meaning the federal transfer fee is now $0. [1, 2]

Depending on where you and the buyer/seller live, the Form 4 might even be entirely optional: [1]

  • In “Free States”: Following the Silencer Shop Foundation v. ATF court ruling in late 2026, suppressors can be transferred at an FFL dealer using a standard Form 4473 and a NICS background check. This skips the Form 4 entirely, requiring no fingerprints, no registration, and allowing same-day pickup. [1, 2, 3]
  • Standard NFA States / True Private Sales: If you choose to or must bypass a dealer and conduct a direct person-to-person transfer within the same state, you can use the online eForms system. [1, 2]

How to File an Online Private eForm 4

If you decide to file the online Form 4 directly, both the Transferor (Seller) and Transferee (Buyer) must follow these steps:

  1. Create eForms Accounts: Both parties must register for an individual account on the official ATF eForms website.
  2. Initiate the Form: The seller (transferor) logs into their account, starts a new eForm 4, and inputs the suppressor’s details (serial number, manufacturer, model). [1, 2]
  3. Add the Buyer: The seller enters the buyer’s eForms username and details to link them to the application.
  4. Submit Photos & Fingerprints: The buyer must upload a digital passport-style photo and supply their EFT digital fingerprint files. [1]
  5. Sign and Certify: Both parties will digitally sign the application using their individual eForms PINs.
  6. Wait for Approval: The seller must keep possession of the suppressoruntil the ATF issues an digital approval notification. Handing it over early is a federal crime. [1, 2]

Note: You cannot ship a suppressor directly to a private individual across state lines; interstate transfers must go through an FFL.

Short review of the Tenet Limited 7:

Shot 18 rounds of 175gr 7mm from my 9lbs Bergara Crest Carbon 7PRC with the Tenet Limited 7 loaded with 66.2gr of H1000 (Backdraft Chassis).

Immediately after, I shot my 15lbs 6.5CM Aero Solus with a Banish 30v1 with suppressor break shooting 42gr of H4350, 130gr SKG (Ultradyne Picatinny Chassis with Backstop).

I could not tell the difference in recoil or in muzzle flip from the 7PRC to the 6.5CM. My first shot on the 7 was so light I thought I had a misfire (except I had a supersonic crack). Any shot on game at, I would guess, 250yards or more I would be able to spot impact.

I could tell the difference between the 7PRC and my 243 but the difference was really small.

This suppressor is the price of a pretty decent rifle, but honestly its worth it. I am amazed.

Did you have the brake installed? I have been looking at these

Yes, the Horizon 2 port break.

Should have asked right away how was the sound suppression?

I had full. Hearing pro on, I shoot at an active range, so it hard to tell. But it’s rated at 24 DBs. I would say it’s less than a typical good can, but it’s better than a cheap can.

Using it with the break. It is louder than the larger cans however, I am able to spot my impact at 100 yards with 300 WM 200 GRAIN TERMINAL ASCENT
