Link to the Vortex Nation video where they discuss the 300 “Super WSM”. Pretty cool for the 300 WSM fans out there (myself included). It fits a SAAMI spec chamber, but with a non-SAMMI spec COL. High BC and claimed expansion velocity down to 1500 fps. Only catch, 1:8 twist is required.

These days not too difficult to get a prefit 300WSM barrel with 8 twist. Seriously considering this myself.

Did you listen to the recent V Nation podcast where they said Unknown Munitions was going to make a bottom metal for Tikkas which would allow for a Tikka Super WSM?

Purchased a couple of boxes of 7SAUM, and 1 300Super WSM. Don’t have the WSM barrel yet. 7SAUM is 145LRX.
Just got a new barrel from PBB in 7SAUM and I switched out a 6.5PRC.
Before shooting the factory ammo, i ran 20 rounds of handloads with the same LRX bullet loaded with min load of H4350. Then 18 rounds of the factory.
My handload average 2831 with SD 10 and ES 34. Av group size 0.877.
Barnes Reserve 3105 (box 3110) SD 18 ES 61.
Average group 1.11.
Going to clean it and try the Barnes Reserve one more time.

So an update
Cleaned the 7SAUM then shot 6, 3-shot groups using the Reserve ammo. Nothing smaller than an inch. Nothing bigger than 2.5 in. It occurred to me that this Barrel was brand new and maybe it was a poor sample. Therefore, I took some Copper Creek loaded 150 Berger ammo and shot 5, 3-shot groups. One was 1.1 inch, everything else was sub 0.6, with best group 0.32 in. So this Barrel just does not like this lrx ammo. Which is fine because I have a 280 which shoots the 139 lrx quite well and I really don’t need to duplicate that.
But in the meantime my “super wsm” barrel showed up from OMR. Spun it onto a zermat action that I wasn’t using. Quick clean and then took it to the range today for its first shots.
Box velocity was 2800. I got 2695 out of a 22-in barrel. SD 19, ES 67. 6 3-shot groups best .455, worst 2.09 av 1.09. Av mean radius .430.
I’ve got some reloading components inbound for this rifle. I think I’m going to load up some very light loads and try to wear the Barrel in a little more before trying anymore of this Reserve ammo
