I’ve been impressed for years with the terminal performance of Barnes Bullets. But never really felt like their Factory loaded ammo was doing great in terms of accuracy. Certainly acceptable for killing a whitetail at typical NC ranges.
I spent pretty much most of 2023 creating a hand load for a 139 lrx in my 280 Ackley. I got it decent, nothing to really brag about but it works. But then I saw this load from the factory on a recent podcast on YouTube and thought I’d try some. Quite impressed. It’s shattered the usual so so accuracy that I typically expect from Barnes Factory loads. I haven’t shot a ton of it yet, less than one box but it’s averaging well less than one MOA , typically between 0.5 and 0.7.
I hope they will start putting this particular component bullet out though. Right now you can only purchase it as Factory loaded ammo.
