NM draw results were published today and I was fortunate to draw a tag for unit 16a in late October. Looking for guide referrals and any insights or intel from anyone who has been successful in the unit in years past.

Quick! By a lottery ticket! Lucky You! I was not so successful​
True grit outfitters, great very honest guys! I drew last year in 2A mule deer tag… they don’t take money until late, and they called me and said it’s a terrible year in 2A and we’ve been scouting and a 120-130 is the largest we’ve seen…. They said I might go a day or two without even seeing a buck, and said honestly if we see a 3 point we suggest you don’t pass it up. I decided to eat the tag, and they were fine no hard feelings about canceling my hunt… I know several guys personally that have hunted with them and been 100% successful.

Thanks for the info John. I’ll check them out. Are you familiar with the unit? My last hunt in NM was a few years ago in a different unit. We rented a cabin for the hunt. Any intel on lodging in or around 16a?
I don’t know anything about New Mexico, never been there, just recently started putting in for there, I’ve always hunted MT but with the rise in tag costs there, I decided to start looking out of that state, for other opportunities…. I’ve just tried process based hunter services, that Tate has stated, been very happy dealing with them as they spent a lot of phone time with me, dialing in on my goals… a lot more time then the $195 they charged me…. Rokslide is another source but take that with a grain of salt as there is no shortage of the world’s smartest hunter on there.arm chairing there way to the top.
