Not sure if this will be a new “Backcountry” cartridge or bullet.
Dang, normally when a company does this they put something like this out about 2 weeks before the launch. Not 2 months
It’s either a 6.5bc or 300bc
Those were all released at shot show ![]()

Facepalm!!
June 5= 6/5
That’s clever
Yeah, even furthermore this year June 5th is definitely 6.5 mm/26 caliber day.
6/5/26
Federal promised more Backcountry cartridges…. And that maybe possibly looks like 6.5 caliber….
Do you think we’ll a short action version of a backcountry?
I’ve been thinking the next BC should be something on the lines of the 6.5 PRC. The argument that the 6.5 PRC is the ultimate all around cartridge for western big game sure does have a place. However, EVERYONE wants a shorter barrel to run suppressors. basically turning the rifle into a creedmoor. Im like to think it will be close to the 6.5 PRC case maybe a bit shorter than the 6.5 PRC. Allowing to push bullets even farther out of the case. Hopefully giving same 6.5 PRC velocity, out of a 18-20 inch barrel.
I wasn’t sure if they were going to keep releasing more BC’s in different calibers or not. I know that was the initial plan, but I thought they pivoted a bit after the 7 BC didn’t take off like they wanted. I l love the concept of short barrels keeping high velocities but I feel really skeptical this succeeds long term.
Maybe a discussion topic for the podcast or its own video but I’m pretty interested to see if barrels with built in suppression (integral suppressed barrels) takes off in the next couple years. You theoretically can go with a longer barrel for more velocity because you wouldn’t have to add a suppressor to the end.
I bet they neck down the 7 bc case to a “6.5 bc” or something like that. I would be surprised if they came out with any magnum cartridges in peak alloy.
With the 22 & 25 caliber craze I think it would be a 22 BC & 25 BC, as there’s the 22/25 creedmoor, and with Weatherby jumping on the band wagon with the 25RPM… etc.. Hornady is going to be late to the dance with 22/25prc’s
