I can’t figure out why 3/5 of my reloads are getting a crushed shoulder. When I begin to press the bullet into the cartridge, it goes easy, then as I get to the last bot of length in the ram I feel a little bump as I press to get the bullet fully seated. I have checked the die multiple times, its not too close to the ram. I have cleaned the brass, not excess wax on the brass.
Could it be that the neck is too tight on the brass? I am using once fired federal brass. 7PRC loading H1000.
Is your shell holder off a bit or moving? I had that issue with my Lee press.
Is your shoulder bump consistent? And is the die lock ring against the press and tightened? Check those and hopefully its one of those.
Also are you deburring the case neck inside and out? I dip my case necks in dry lube when i run my mandrel die and when i seat the bullet enough is left to help the bullet seat smoothly.

Rock solid

Die is locked and tight, shoulder were done on the resizing die when I removed the primers

I hope this is it. I don’t have a debur thing yet, comes tomorrow. This is the only thing I could think of, neck is too tight.
Im going to assume your sizing die has an expander ball so it sizes the neck. If thats right then no. If your just making accurate hunting rounds your dies are fine and even if you were doing benchrest or nrl your dies are fine.
I use the eric cortina dies the full length sizer uses a bushing to size the od of neck. Then i use a mandrel die that expands it back out to .002 under the bullet diameter. Im down that rabbit hole of chasing precision and its for hunting rounds.
My guess its the deburring and remember a light chamfer youll feel it go from bumpy to smooth turning the deburr tool. Were not sharpening a skinning knife here. Lol
Yep, I think it’s the same that I have had. I believe the bullet seater most likely has a crimp setting. You need to look closely at the instructions. Most likely you are a half turn, or full turn too tight or loose. I can’t remember which one it is now.
