I currently have a Begara B-14 HMR 6.5 creedmoor rifle (bought in 2018) with a Leupold VX-5HD 4-20x52 scope. I have been using this gun for just bench shooting. I am working my way out to 1000 yards. My first question is would you stick with creedmoor or go with 6.5prc? Second question is which gun would you recommend for accuracy and good quality company? So far i have looked into Seekins & Begara Premier Series but I am sure theres more. I appreciate everyone’s help!
Personal opinion of course.
For just Target shooting, I would stick with the creedmoor.
Plenty-capable
Less recoil, easier to spot your shots
Significantly cheaper Factory ammo
Significantly more Factory ammo options
Tons of good Reloading Data if you want to go that route
I personally view the PRC as useful for when you need some more velocity either because of terminal performance needs from a hunting bullet or trying to extend your effective hunting range slightly.
In terms of rifle companies. I also love Seekins, have more than one of them because of that. Also like Fierce
What rifle do you like from Seekins?
6.5 Creed is great for shooting targets out to 1,000.
If I HAD to make a single shot at 1000, I’d pick the PRC for the better wind resistance. But if I had multiple shots, I’d pick the creed to more easily spot my impact.
Do you have an old action that you could do a build on? Or maybe buy a Tikka T3x and change the stock? Lately I’ve preferred to build rather than buy if I’m spending over $1500 because then I can tweak it over time and add components.
I have both the Element(older version) and PH2, can’t say that I like one better than the other.
Thank you for your response! I do not have an action to use. If I purchased a tikka what stock do you like?
I think the idea is to buy a used or cheap tikka with the right bolt face and action then build upon that action. I also prefer building over stock. This way I get 100% the way I want.
Thank you guys for your help, i really appreciate it!
I have a Bergara in 6.5 Creedmoor. I have already gone beyond 1,000 yards. However, I live at 8,000 feet above sea level, and that makes a difference. I also have a Tikka T3x in 6.5 PRC. It is configured as a hunting rifle, but I will start taking it out to distance in the near future. More recoil, but I love the rifle.
