New to long range shooting custom build

Was wondering what you guys think about the XRS chassis versus other chassis like the hunt 26 one that MDT has. Im looking to build my first custom rife and was wondering what chassis you guys recommend for just plinking and hunting. I don’t really have a budget on the rifle. And what actions do you guys recommend? Im kinda new to longer range shooting. Thanks for the help!

I love my Tikka that I put into an XRS. Shoots lights out and feels so much better than the factory tupperware stock. Expect to be lugging a pretty heavy rifle around the woods though if you plan to hunt with it. I haven’t had the chance to play with the HNT26, but I’ve never been disappointed by anything MDT has put out so I’m sure it would feel really solid as well. You just pay for it. Definitely a better option for a hunting rig though since it’s like 2.5 pounds lighter than the XRS.

Lots of good options out there.

Hnt26 is ridiculously good. Like, can’t really even be improved—at least for what I value in a stock. However, it’s very light so I wouldn’t recommend it for the harder hitting cartridges unless you’ll use a brake or suppressor.

I really like the XLR Element and apparently so do plenty of others judging from their build times. The HNT26 seems successful and I’m guessing they had a hard time keeping up with orders because the price increased about $400 since launch.
