Anyone buying that a 30-06 failed to pass through a man’s neck? Thoughts?
I could see it if it were a varmint bullet or if there were a downward trajectory so it wasn’t just going straight through the upper body but through it diagonally lengthwise.
Wondering where that thought came from? For a 30-06 not to pass through a man’s neck, it would have had to be a 1200 + yard shot. I have some real doubts about that story. So in answer to your question, “No, I am not buying the story.” ![]()
If this is what I think you are talking about…
It’s not going to pass through or exit the neck if it ricochets off the upper part of the metal plate body armor first, then enters the neck like shrapnel in an upward trajectory creating an uncharacteristic entry wound before lodging in the cranium.
Lots of theories…but the sad facts appear obvious in the slow-enough motion videos out there that show shock waves from the projectile impacts.
More importantly: if you are not a trained law enforcement, armed services, or security professional but have to wear body armor to work, you had better evaluate and manage the risks associated with the activities of your occupation because wearing body armor to work is not a common thing for most people.
I find it interesting that FBI etc refuse to disclose if he was wearing body armor. I thought the said the bullet went downward lodging in the thoracic spine?
The man’s security team certainly failed him.
As for the risks associated with the man’s occupation he knew the risks and went anyway.
He was brave and that’s what he wanted to be remembered for. He will be remembered for that and more.
Given the investigation is not complete and the defendant’s trial pending, I think the prosecution will refrain from sharing any evidence pertaining to the charges and desired verdict for each count. As it should be. The case should be tried in a court of law, not the court of public opinion. The evidence and facts lead to the truth and the truth eventually comes out to explain the circumstances…
Gary from paramount tactical did an interesting video on what he saw as a ricochet.
