Norma vs. sako ammo for 6.5 prc Tikka Rifle

Hi, I’m ready to sight in Tikka rifle. I know Jim recommends the Sako ammo, but on a recent podcast I thought I heard the guys say the Norma Bondstrike extreme 143 gr is good too.

I have a Tikka, and I understand it mates well with Sako ammo, but the Norma is a cheaper and easier to find. I don’t intend to shoot farther than 300 yards. So will it really matter?

Thoughts / recommendations appreciated. Thank you.

I love the Norma BondStrike. It’s been accurate out of several rifles for me, and does great in whitetail and hogs. Will be using it in Sept on elk as well

The Norma stuff shoots great out of my rifle. I haven’t tried the Sako stuff though

I second the bondstrike, with the added bonus the golden target ammo shoots close enough in my rifle I could mix them in the magazine and would not be able to tell the difference in paper out past 300 yards.
I’ve taken 2 elk with the bondstrike and it performed great.

I’ve also had great accuracy with the Norma mono bullet (believe it’s the Eco Strike)

It shot pretty good in my rifle Barnes Harvest was good as well.

That’s a tough one. Sako ammo in Tikka rifles is always a win but also the Norma Bondstrike is phenomenal. I might just have to try a box of each to decide.

Barnes Harvest shoots good also

This is from factory Tikka T3x lite shooting Barnes Harvest Ammo. 100 yards 1/2 MOA

Barnes harvest shoots great out of all my rifles. Wasn’t very excited how it performed on a whitetail for me this year tho. Perfect double lung shot at 208 yards out of a 6.5prc. Deer ran a couple hundred yards and took me forever to find. It’s known as a great bullet, but that will keep me from using it again for hunting.

Thanks for the report.

This past season I shot my first deer with a Berger. 308 at 50 yrds. Everyone talks about how these bullets just drop them right there but this one did not. It ran 200 yards zigzagged in the woods, did not leave a blood trail. Only found it because I had a buddy who had a tracking dog.
