Quick question for the group: I’ve got a Seekins PH3 in 7mm PRC with a 22” barrel (absolutely love it), and it helped me bag a muley and a solid 5x6 bull this season. Recoil is surprisingly mild overall (my setup weighs just under 11 lbs), but I’ve noticed some noticeable muzzle rise with the factory Seekins radial brake. Thinking about swapping it out for something better—curious what brakes everyone else is running on similar setups? Right now, I’m eyeing the Area 419 Hellfire Match, APA Gen 4 Fat B*****d, or the iota (one used on horizon firearms). Main goal is cutting down on muzzle rise to help with tracking impacts.
This was a interesting watch- But really, once you go with a suppressor there’s no going back, they’ve gotten so small and light weight, plus the lack of the cost of the stamp…
100% agree. I used a brake for exactly 1 elk hunt and will never do so again. They are so damn loud that I was worried about damaging either my hearing or the hearing of my hunting friends by being to close. Suppressor is the way
Yes, Iv used a suppressor before. I have the banish 30 which is great, but it’s fairly long and can’t be a pain hiking in thick timber with the extra length. My other thought was to get a different hunting specific can but cost of a brake is much lower
Cade, what kind of Muzzle velocity are you getting with that 22” barrel? I have been interested in the PH3 for a while, but havent seen any data for the short barrel in a magnum cartridge.
Hornady factory ammo was all over the place 2700-2800 depending on the lot. Federal eldx was better around 2914 last time I shot (13 shots). I started reloading and am hoping I can get in the 2950 range
