Hi Jim,
I just watched your short youTube video on 'Cooler,'s and loved your suggestion. It is amazing how expensive they have gotten over the years. I myself is in the market for a hard case cooler. Yesterday, on my way home from N. Ca I stopped by my firearm dealer (It is part of a hardware store, the old fashion way) and while looking around I came across their “designer” coolers, Yeti, Pelican…
I think the least expensive cooler they had was for $325. It was a Yeti. Looked nice, but the interior space wasn’t as spacious because of the insulation. They had them as high as $700. But they didn’t have anything as big as the Grizzly in your video which was priced at $1,000+.
On the way, I stopped at our Home Depot to see what they had. Not much. They only carried one size Igloo (small)for $49, which was priced right.
But, your suggestion of picking up a freezer from Home Depot for $250 and plugging it in your truck when you go hunting was simply ingenious.
Saw that too. How are you planning to plug it in?
My truck has an outlet that can power a small freezer. If your truck’s inverter doesn’t have enough juice, you could use a cheap harbor freight generator, or just use the freezer like a cooler with ice until you get home.
