When I first started reloading (1984), I loved the Nosler Partition. I thought it was especially good b/c that back end seemed so important when bullet weight was on the light end to begin with (I was loading 100gr .243s).
I was (re)reviewing “JIM’S QUICK TAKE ON HUNTING BULLETS” this morning and thought, “I wonder why Nosler hasn’t updated the Partition? They still make it (and it ain’t cheap), so there must be demand…Wouldn’t an updated design increase that demand and Nosler’s share of the pie?”
I guess it’s because there are now better ways (functionally &or economically) to build a bullet with the same or better expansion, weight retention & penetration … ??

It’s a fine question. Right now I see little point in the Partition. It has a low BC but high penetration. If that’s the goal, choosing any of the copper bullets on the market fills that niche nicely.
Remington finally updated their Core Lokt with a modern tipped version. Maybe Nosler will update too.
I will say that I wonder what the company culture is at Nosler. I mean, I see and hear Hornady marketing constantly, but I have never heard a PEEP from Nosler marketing. At the shows I’ve gone to their booths and it’s like one guy half asleep in a chair sitting there. Doesn’t feel like they are trying.
