Powder Equivalencies

I grabbed some Norma Oryx 156gr bullets for my 6.5CM. Not a real sexy bullet, but I was curious how the projectile would perform in my rifle.

Norma’s online info only shows Norma powders. However, they have a nice chart at the beginning that is a burn rate chart.

Right below Norma 204 ( with relative velocity of 100.9 and relative pressure at 98.9) is Hodgdon 4350 (listed at 100.0 and 94.9).

In the reloading data for the 6.5CM 156gr is a minimum charge of 35.5 and max of 39 using the Norma 204.

Would it be a safe bet to start a load at about 37.0 or 37.5gr of H4350 with this bullet?

I am just trying to make sure I am interpreting everything correctly.
Thank you!

Officially it’s best to start all the way at the bottom, but if it were me I’d do exactly what you said.

Can’t take the lawyer outta the shooter… lol

Thanks, Jim!
