Press Cam-Over Opinions

Hey everyone. Been really enjoying sifting through all the posts here. Lots of good info. So figured I’d ask a question as well.

I’m relatively new to reloading. Worked up a couple loads I was able to use successfully for hunting season this year. I’ve been really trying to dial in my technique and equipment. I keep seeing stuff about the idea of Cam-over and if it helps or doesn’t.

Quite frankly I don’t fully understand what it gives/takes away from the process. My press can be set up to cam or not to cam. So please give me some guidance, what am I gaining or giving up by going one way or the other? My main focus is reloading for precision, although I might be reloading for an Ar-10 pretty soon too.

I have heard arguments for and against cam-over for precision but honestly, most of it doesn’t quite make sense to me. My press can either hard stop or can-over and I always just use hard stop.
