With some cautions is it safe to substitute magnum primers from CCI with Federal with Remington. Sometimes primers become available that are same type or usage but not same brand?
I mean, the official answer would be no, and only do precisely what’s in the book. That’s my official answer. But is it something I do all the time without giving a second thought? Yep!
However, keep in mind that I don’t mess around near max pressure. I almost always am half a grain or a full grain down from what most guys hand load. So if you’re near max, exercise caution and careful work up the powder charge.

Thanks. Make perfect sense. Of course the issue is grabbing primers when you can. I found the Rem 91/2s but traditionally I have used CCI. I have not reloaded for some years due to time and other things but with my Garmin Xero coming - I am ready to get back into it. The 7mm PRC is a driver for me. Now in the olden days we did not have ballistic apps just nosler books and I never really verified my velocities since I did not have a chrono. But I also did not really shoot past mbr and relied on my groups. Plus if I want to shoot my 8mm RM I kind of need to reload.
