About to go backcountry for 4th rifle, unit 74 Colorado & need a solution to charge my electronics. Last year I took a couple of solar chargers & they were very slow. Looks like most of the back pack / hiking folks are using power banks. Anyone have a solution that is working for them?
My last sheep hunt a few years back, I took light weight powerbank that would charge my phone and in-reach 2-3 times. I kept them turned off and limited use only as necessary and didn’t run out of power in the recharge bank. I left the powerbank in base camp and didn’t take anything extra to spike camp.
Any brand recommendations?
Not sure if you’re driving in or how far you have to trek, but I have been looking at Jackery solar generators/power banks.
I’m a big fan of this power bank. Amazon.com
Has built in usbc cables and also more outlets. Gives a few full charges, and comes from Anker that I’ve found to make really good quality gear.
I could not say. I know its not anything special and I haven’t looked at it 2 yrs. I did buy it new so I hoped it would be at full capacity and not an older battery pack. I think most with decent ratings will suffice.
You want to go with Anker or Jackery. They had their charge and their batteries remain viable for years. I have had a Jackery power bank for about 8 years and it has stayed at 1@0% for over a year , as recently as my last elk hunt last Oct.
Anker has been the same for me, just reliable. The one Jim linked is really good.
You should also look for a universal solar charger for your battery pack. They come pretty small and light and are worth the security they provide. I like this one:
Agreed, just by the one that suits the power tools you use and bring a couple batteries along
