Proof pre fit barrels for the sig cross

Proof is offering a pre fit carbon barrel for the sig cross rifles. Has anyone had experience with these barrels specifically on a sig cross. I also see they are offering barrels chambered for 22 creedmoor! Does anyone have thoughts on this? If I were to go this route, I am pretty sure all I would need is a new barrel and I should be able to shoot 22 CM then, correct? Thanks all!

Schnee barrels are also offering a pre fit for the sig cross in 22 Creedmoor. is one brand better than the other? Am I saving any weight compared to the factory barrel by doing this?

Proof has a reputation as one of the most premier barrel makers on the planet. I have a couple (not on a Cross), and they are excellent. No experience with Schnee.

With the Proof, you will basically be spending an additional $1200-1500 on top of the price of the Cross. That’s getting you into custom rifle territory. I’d be surprised if there was much of a market for used Cross 308 and 6.5CM barrels.

Yikes. A 22 creedmoor Sig across is really speaking my language. That thing would be a nice little packable gun for coyote and whitetail.

Wouldn’t be worth it if you are buying the cross to put this barrel on it, but if you already have a Sig cross and want a different cartridge… that’d be pretty fun.

I already own a 6.5 cross thanks to you! my first “premium” rifle was this cross. I love it and all but am a sucker for new things aka the 22 creedmoor! Thinking a 22 creedmoor barrel would be a pretty cool addition. 1000 to 1500 for a carbon barrel is still cheaper than a horizon rifle. I may have to consider

You may also check with Preferred Barrel Blanks. I’m told they make some of the Horizon barrels. Don’t know if they do a Cross prefit, but possible.

I have the sig cross in 6.5 creedmoor and have upgraded to the proof carbon prefit barrel. it is shooting about 200 fps faster, and a little bit better groups. I am not satisfied with my Hornady precision hunter as the SD is huge! I’m about to get into reloading and my first goal is to get a round working well with this setup. I’ll let you guys know what I come up with. If anyone has some starting loads I’m keen to try them out.

Looks fantastic. Those Proof barrels are invariably good shooters.
