I have been researching rifles. Read a bit about PROOF Research. Has anyone had the opportunity to review these?
First of all, WELCOME to the community. I sincerely appreciate your support and I’m excited to be seeing this community grow.
I don’t own any of their complete rifles, but the proof elevation MTR looks really good. Very expensive gun, but I’ve always wanted one. I’ve only heard glowing reports.
My only experience is with the Proof Elevation in .308 (20 inch bbl). I honestly and consistently shoot sub half inch groups using factory loaded Barnes TTSX 168gr load. Because the rifle is so light, it does kick more that a similar rifle. I called Proof and talked to a fellow by the name of Andy for quite awhile. He asked what other brands that I was considering and he gave me some good insights. I will buy another Proof in 7 PRC when the hype dies down a bit.
Quite honestly its Jim’s fault that I bought it. I watched his Waypoint 2020 video and spent a month looking for one. When I found the Proof at Sportsman’s it checked all of the boxes.
I bought a waypoint in 308 and I absolutely love it. My new fierce mountain reaper in 300 prc is a beast and very accurate. I looked at proof nearly pulled trigger twice but saved a few grand and went with fierce.
If you do think you want a Proof, Redhawk rifles usually has a sale going. Fierce is another great option.
RedHawk rifles is here in Grand Junction. Didn’t know that until I went on line and looked. I went to their office to look at guns and they lady at the desk said they were an online store but asked if I would like to talk to a salesman. Of course I would. Lol well he took me in the back and showed me the entire line they had on hand. Man those guns are some of the best I have handled. And talk about lite! He said he would take off about 200 if I picked it up in person. Man I’m think about it!!
You should get one, Rolex of rifles. I have searched all week for a semi- custom at a similar price point and keep coming back to PR.
True testimony/stupid moment, hunting in AL in Jan and tornados rolled in. In my hurry to get out of the stand I dropped the rifle 20 fr. The next day we took it to the range at lunch and it cloverleafed at 100 yards over the hood of a truck, huge fan.
I might do it. Elevation MTR is the bomb. I can’t believe how well it handled.
Jim. I just signed up for this site.
I am interested in the sig cross in 6.5 cm
I have seen a couple of your videos on it.
Just wanted to know if you still like the Sig Cross
And do you still use it and do you still recommend it.
Also would you recommend getting it re barreled
In 22 or 24 inch?
Oh also 6.5 PRC or 7saum for as a deer /elk rifle ?
Which model do you own? Have any pics of it?
The cheapest, the basic elevation from Sportsman. An MTR is in my future!
,308 with a 20” barrel, six pounds as shipped, 7.5 scoped and loaded. Leoupold VX 5, 3-15x44, Warne Mountain Tech low rings.
That’s a beauty. What scope?
That’s a perfect scope too! I’m jealous
Do you shoot suppressed?
Want to, first session with a direct thread Nomad was disappointing- more to come, more of a turkey hunting pattern
Wow! That’s not good. You getting baffle strikes?
Nope, great clearance with a concentric rod. Probably a harmonics deal, need to mess with it some more.
