Quarter Bore Dilemma

I’m arguing with myself for my ‘25 project. To celebrate the quarter century, I want to start a quarter bore build project to make an, essentially, custom build.

With Hornady announcing producing 25 Creed components, I’m torn between LA (25-06) and SA with the 25 Creed. I’m left handed and would prefer to have a left handed action where possible.

If I go with a 25-06, I’m tempted to buy an inexpensive rifle, like a Savage, for the action. Though I don’t have a lot of experience with Savages. Personally, I love Bergara actions, if that makes a difference.

This will mostly be used for West TX whitetail hunting, but it’ll get some long range use, too.

I have the ability to reload my ammo so I’m comfortable with either direction.

So I need some advice. Let me hear it.

I had the same problem, I wanted a 25 cal rifle that punched above its weight class. I ended up going with a.257 Weatherby Magnum, but the 25-06 was my second choice. Flat shooting and with the right projectile, could take anything that I wanted to hunt in Texas or New Mexico (elk within reasonable ranges). Keep us informed on your build!

If you’re reloading anyway, I would go 25 Creed. The case is easily available, you get the more modern twist rate and enough space to load out longer bullets as 25 cal bullets become more available.
