I am in the market for a new rangefinder. I was pretty set on getting a Vortex Razor HD 4000 GB but have been toying with the idea of getting a bino/rangefinder. The Fury HD 5000 AB looks good, as well as the Burris Signature HD LRF.
I searched around here for a minute and saw Jim mentioned he was going to get the Burris LRF, but in his recent mancast he mentioned that he wished he would have had his Vortex Fury binos for the 600 yard challenge.
I’m still liking the Burris better. Just mentioned wanting the vortex because I have years of experience with them. Haven’t yet learned all the little tricks to get a perfect range with the Burris yet.
@backfire Do you think your opinion change if your Fury HD’s were the AB model with the applied ballistics? Also, why do you like the Burris? Is the glass better, faster, brighter, lighter, more compact, etc.?
I like the idea of having the ballistics built into the rangefinder so I don’t have to use a phone or dope chart.
I’d be interested to know how Applied Ballistics compares to Vortex’s GeoBallistics for ranging solutions. I recently bought the Vortex Razor HD 4000 GB after doing a bunch of research. I was leaning towards an Sig as they seem to be killing it with ranging tools but at the last minute went Vortex because the no questions warranty which is nice to have on a rangefinder. The GeoBallisitcs app seems to be very well thought out and Vortex acquired GeoBallistics so I imagine they’ll be using it in all their ranging tools from now on rather than Applied Ballistics.
