Recoil dampening mods to AR15: can it be done?

I saw a video the other day where this guy showed off an ar15 with an adjustable muzzle brake, a deadblow buffer, and a light weight BCG. I think the target was at 100yds, 16" tall silhouette, and he claimed the red dot never left the top of the target (never recoiled hardly at all).

I was wondering if it’s possible to make one like that. His was in 5.56, but I would be more interested in 7.62x39, or even 6mm arc. Would the adjustable parts would be too taxed, and be unable to keep up with the extra recoil?

I know, the recoil isn’t bad. I’m not worried about recoil as recoil (the hunting rifle I use is 7mm rem mag). I just want to do something like this because of the novelty of it. I’ve never seen it done, and it’s a cool concept. His application was purely for target use, but other than durability and ease of maintenance, this doesn’t seem like a bad option for any AR. Unless you need ultimate durability, it doesn’t seem to have any downsides.

Sounds like a cool project. I’m not much of an AR gunsmith but I’d love to see that.

Kind of off topic, but related. Is there any cartridge that would fit an ar15, but that almost ad cheap as 5.56? Looks like it’s about $0.55 a round from Midway, while 7.62 is like $0.75-80 (both for the cheapest available. IMI for 5.56, and sellier bellot for the 7.62). That’s like 50% more per shot. Know of anything that would rival that price? Or is 7.62 the next best thing? (for rifle mmo, not looking for a 9mm. I want to be able to hunt small to medium animals with this setup)

7.62 will require an AR10 vice an AR15; Rebarreling an AR15 for 7.62 is a non-starter.

I have seen posts on some forums of people barreling a small frame AR for 6cm or 6arc,but I haven’t seen anything in real life.

I’m mostly asking because I saw the price of 7.62, and it seems like it would be better to start with the recoilless build in 5.56, since it’s cheap, then move to something more interesting later. I’d love to get the 7.62 build, but at those prices, I could almost get into .308, which has a lot more options and better ones for hunting (the main purpose other than fun.

As for 7.62x39 not being able to be done, look up an ar47, mk47, or any of the other many variations on ar16 platforms that shoot the AK round. I’m talking about the AK round (7.62x39mm) not the .308 one (7.62x51), and definitely not the Mosin one (7.62x54r). They sell barrels, BCGs, and everything else needed to make an AR47, you just have to find it, and then work out the inevitable kinks in the plan like buffer weight and gad system problems from the different cartridges.

The 6mm arc is ironically much newer, but seems to have more fully AR builds. CMMG has uppers and full guns, and I think Faxon has parts. Stag has uppers and guns too. That is what I’m really wanting, but it’s so much more than the 5.56mm, I’m tempted to skip it.
