Recommended Suppresor for a) 7mm RM and b) .300BO

@backfire I’ve been researching for a while and am still not sure which route to pursue for the following:

7mm Rem Mag (Sako S20 hunting rifle)

.300 Blackout (PDW)

There are a gazillion options out there; I don’t want to waste $ on the wrong suppressor given the wait time for NFA items to be adjudicated by the ATF.

Thanks in advance.

Personal opinion of course.

Make yourself a list of attributes you want for the can. Make sure that absolute Db reduction is really low on the list, or not on it at all. You as the shooter won’t be able to notice a few Db difference, and it’s not going to make a practical difference. You will still need hearing protection when shooting that 7 Mag.

For the hunting rifle, some things which rank high for me are minimal POI shift, and what little there is should be reproducible and repeatable, always the same MOA in the same directions. Also minimal added length and weight as most of my hunting is out of stands and blinds, and wielding a 30 or more inch rifle is a pain. Your situation may be different for your particular style of hunting, etc.

I also prefer direct thread for my hunting rifles as a method of attachment. However, if the rifle is very high recoiling then having a suppressor that uses a muzzle brake could be beneficial for the times you don’t shoot suppressed.

For the PDW, your criteria may be quite different. For instance the ability to rapidly attach, detach as well as ability to handle rapid fire maybe more important than other things.

For myself, I have been gravitating to TBAC cans for my hunting guns, and Surefire for my AR’s and such.

You almost certainly will be buying more than one!

Thanks for your insight!

I am certainly thinking more than 1 can. Direct thread for the hunting rifle (love my 7RM; accurate as all get out and very little recoil (IMO)).

Have definitely been looking at the TBAC Magnus or Ultra 7 v2 for the hunting rifle…but wanting some opinions and recommendations before I pull the trigger.

The .300BO will definitely be.a QD mount. May look for something that will work between my M4 / .300BO / AR10, to lessen the inital overall outlay of $$.

I put an ultra 7 on a 308 and loved it so much I purchased the second one for a 7-08. I would have gotten an Ultra 5 but I couldn’t find any available at the time. They are quite impressive!

I got an AUG a year or so ago and they’re notorious for having trouble with back pressure. Therefore I’ve started looking into the newer cans made by Huxwrx and B&T with the flow through technology. Maybe other companies making them too.

I’d get a banish backcountry for the hunting rifle, and a Banish 30 for the 300BO. If you’re just getting one, I’d go with the Banish 30.

On the homepage of Backfire, I have an article with my full explanations and why that’s the one I recommend specifically. https://backfire.tv/best-hunting-suppressors/

You’re not going to regret this purchase.
