On some of the videos I have watched I have noticed that there are recordings from the scopes point of view. Is this an attachment or should I be looking to purchase specific scopes that record? My son is just learning to hunt (13 years old) and I think it would be helpful if we could review video footage of his shots. Similarly to the video posted in the banned vids “youth hog hunt”. Any advice on how to get a similar set up to record would be greatly appreciated.
Trigger cam is one that i think is mounted on the scope… tactacam is another one.
I find a cell phone works pretty good rather than worrying about another device when dealing with a kid and all that goes into prepping them for the shot… no doupt its a cool device.
Unfortunately, this is frustratingly difficult to do.
As mentioned, TRIGGERCAM is the best out there right now, but it’s TERRIBLE. Tactacam I believe is out of business and their product was even worse. Best bet right now is just using a digiscoping device like to film through a spotting scope.
The scope can for that banned vid was a sightmark wraith, but it’s a night vision scope and not a normal scope.
WARNING
There are quite a few digiscoping adapters for smartphones on the market. These would allow to record directly through the scope, and you would aim via the screen on the phone. (see BH Photos for examples)
HOWEVER, I don’t think that any of the phones on the market today can handle the recoil (g-force) that a hunting rifle would project to the phone.
Don’t ask how I found out. I filed that one under “stupid things I tried”.

Thanks for all the advice. It sounds like this isn’t as simple as I thought. For now I think I will just focus on trying to help him get his first big game animal this year.
Can you tell me more? How long ago was this? What phone and what cartridge?
Maybe asking for a friend who just had a meeting this week with his engineer about coming out with a product in this space. And that friend is me ![]()
It was 3 years ago. If I remember correctly it was an iPhone 11 or 12. The “rig” was sold to attach a smart phone at the end of a spotting scope. It worked fine for that but the phone was damaged after a day at the range on the 7mm Rem Mag, and the .308.
I would check the specs of the phone to see how much g-force it can handle. Newer phone may be better. My experience scares me to try another phone.
