Reloading 300 Win Mag Monolithic

Do you have any recommendations for a 30 cal monolithic bullet that can be reloaded for a tikka T3X in 300 WM? Running into some COAL issues with their short magazines. We wanted to run the 190 gr CX bullets but can’t get them to seat in there magazines specs. Any help here is appreciated.

BarnesTTSX 165gr. Are you looking for higher weight and or BC? It is a lightweight so with the 165 save a bit on recoil and length?

Looking for a good elk round for inside 600 yards. I got all hyped up about the Hornady CX 190 and ordered some. Oops they don’t fit so now back the drawing board. I was not expecting them not to fit in the magazine.

I’m currently playing around with the 175g LRX. I’ve used the 190 LRX factory ammo in the past and dropped an elk where it stood after shattering the front shoulder so I know that one works. I have 3 loads with the 175 I’m playing with to see which one shoots best that will end up being my go to load. What’s the overall length of your magazine? It seems kinda odd that you’re not getting them to seat. I’m sure Hornady is similar but I know Barnes typically like to be seated a little further down for a longer jump so you could try that with the CX.

Energy for barnes factory (their numbers) for 165 is 1640 at 500. So it is right there. I have only used to 400ish and they open up. I could not say out past that.

Personally, I’d pick the LIGHTEST mono you can find that shoots well. You’ll get full penetration no problem with a 300 win mag, so the only advantage to going heavier is a slightly higher BC.

However, the increased velocity of the lighter bullets usually overcomes the BC for better resistance to wind and drop.

That should also help you with your COAL issue.
