Reloading- 7MM PRC...Large Rifle or Magnum Primers?

I am starting to reload for my 7mm PRC. I have read mixed advice on using Large Rifle primers vs Magnum Rifle primers. I’m curious what advice this group would offer on this subject.

In general, I’d choose a magnum. Seems that’s what most of the reloading books are using that.

The definition of ‘magnum’ varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. In some cases it is simply a difference in cup thickness and not necessarily more priming compound. The main driver for using magnum primers over regular ones is to guarantee consistent ignition. You may find that a load that works fine in higher temperatures will need a magnum primer (and different charge weight) in the winter. The potential disadvantage of using magnum primers is inconsistent velocities due to variation in the primers themselves but it’s likely a moot point for your use case.

You see the same sort of considerations in small vs large primer .308 and 6.5 creedmoor
