What reloading manual would everyone suggest? This will be my first one and I’m order all the pieces of the intermediate kit. Right now I’ll be reloading 6.5 cm and 308 but will be adding 6.5 prc 6.5 Grendel and 7 prc this year. Thank you
Lately, I use mainly Hornady and Hodgon but then cross reference Lee’s and Lyman. The only ones with 7 prc that I’ve seen are Hodgon, and Hornady put this out:
But I think at least having two is good so you can double check that what you’re doing makes sense, but also bc one manual is not likely to cover all of your combos of powder and projectile for any given cartridge. I’m pretty new too, but those are my two cents doing this for almost a year now. Good luck!
There is a lot of good reading in all th manuals. It’s one of few handbooks where you really can gain a lot by reading the whole thing. I got the most out of the Hornady, but the physical book is pretty out of date right now. They need to print a new edition.
If you’re just wanting the load data, no need to buy the physical books. Use the Hornady reloading app and it has all the new cartridges in there. Hodgkin online is also great.
I’m still fairly new to reloading myself, but ditto what Jim said. There is a ton of good info in the manuals. I have the Speer physical book, because it came with my press, but also use the Hornday app. You can buy the load data for individual cartridges for $0.99, so you can just get what you are loading. I live in CA so all my hunting rounds are lead free so it is also helpful that Barnes publishes load data online. I think I am going to buy one other physical book for reference, just haven’t decided which one.
I mainly use the Hornady book but recently picked up a copy of the Berger manual. Some interesting content for sure though I found it fairly limited on the powders used. I would second the notion of having more than one and using the online resources.
Thanks everyone. I downloaded the hornady and the Hodgdon apps and reading the manuals on there. Great place to start and good reference for sure.
