Riflescope recommendations

I am in the market for a new scope. I am shooting a Tikka 308. I currently have a Burris E1 4.5x14. Here are some things i am lookng for:

~Dialable turret
~Lightweight
~2-15 range (not married to anything specific), —would like something starting at 2-3, close shots in PA are possible.
~<$600

Looking for opinions to fit in that spectrum. I was thinking the Burris Signature 3-15

Thoughts??

I think you probably nailed it. Burris 3-15

Have you or anyone here used that scope or seen the glass?

If you are familiar with Vortex scopes, I would say that the Signature is more similar to a Viper, but not quite as nice as a Razor. Certainly it is going to be better than the Crossfire or Diamondback series. In that price point, I think Burris is a great choice. For example, you are getting a 5x zoom ratio instead of a 4x (e.g. look at the Vortex Viper HST 4-16–which is also around $600).

3-15 is like the perfect range for hunting. Great for close-up shots at 3x, and if you need to stretch it out you can, or even if you just want to zoom in and see your impacts on paper it’s easy to do so.

Yes, I have a different focal length of that optic but have used that one too. I think that scope would be tough to beat for the price.

E3 or Plex reticle?? Decisions decisions:joy::joy:

What about this scope:::

Between that and the Burris I would stick with the Burris. The Venom is maybe one I would consider for like NRL22 maybe, but not for hunting. Note it is going to be a heavier scope, it’s also FFP with a Christmas-tree style reticle. Somewhat personal preference when it comes to the reticle type but I have never liked those busy ones, personally. For hunting with a Vortex, I would look at the Viper HS and HST series in that price-point. If you can afford to spend more like ~$1K then Razor HD LHT all the way. But the Burris is definitely a better value for the money.

Jim, just curious, how would you compare the Burris to the Primary Arms SLx 4-16x44 Illuminated, which they have on sale right now for $299? Slightly different scopes with the PA scope being FFP and the Burris having 5x magnification, but wondered about your thoughts?

Both are very good scopes. Personally I like FFP. I think the Burris has better glass but the PA scopes have nice turrets and a better price in this case.
